Extended School Care Assistant
Summary: The Extended School Care Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Site Director in the preparation and implementation of daily activities, ensuring a safe environment, and monitoring the location and activity of the children in the group at all times.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures proper cleanup and maintenance of toys, materials, and equipment daily
- Supports and adheres to the NPESC Program philosophy and policies
- Actively participates with children while on duty and encourages the children to participate in constructive activities during the program hours
- Maintains sensitivity and patience with children and parents and provides care to meet each child’s needs
- Notifies the Site Director of any personnel or program problems or suggestions
- Participates in maintaining accurate and timely records, information, and communication to the parents
- Ensures compliance with all PA State Department of Human Services and Keystone Star Standards for child care programs
- Requires 12 hours of child development training and 1 hour of fire safety training each year
- Attends staff meetings
- Completes accident reports as necessary
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor
Education and/or Certification Required:
- High School Diploma/GED
Experience Needed:
- None
Requisite Skills: CPR and First Aid preferred
