Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and creative Direct Support Professional (DSP) to enhance the lives of individuals served while ensuring their safety, happiness, and sense of community and belonging.

In this role, you will maintain positive and open communication and collaboration with each individual, involved family members, medical professionals, and other service providers as appropriate and needed. You will maintain thorough, detailed progress notes regarding provided services, and will attend required and relevant trainings as needed.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be passionate about supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.


Key Responsibilities

The JCHAI DSP will:

  • Assist members with intellectual disabilities and/or autism in supported apartments or group home in achieving their own goals and objectives regarding independent living
  • Teach skills and help individuals with activities of daily living to promote independence
  • Drive members to and from appointments, daily activities, and social outings
  • Implement support plans and document support in thorough, detailed progress notes
  • Maintain positive and open communication and collaboration with each individual, involved family members, medical professionals, and other service providers as appropriate
  • Utilize compassion and creativity to enhance the lives of individuals served while ensuring their safety, happiness, and sense of community and belonging

Other job duties may be required and directed by Director, Daily Living Supports.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Previous experience working with adults with developmental disabilities or in a similar support role preferred
  • Practical: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information
  • Personal: Compassionate, patient, and committed to providing quality support to individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Transportation: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and insurance; willingness to transport clients in your car (mileage reimbursement is available)

 

Schedule & Location

Part-time or full-time schedules are available, depending on location and specific needs. Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends, is appreciated.


Our core programming is located in:

  • Doylestown
  • BuxMont (Bucks/Montgomery Counties) & Northeast Philadelphia (Welsh Road)

Work is performed in-home and in community settings.
