The Parish Bookkeeper role serves the pastor and other members of the parish staff to maintain and oversee the financial records of their assigned parishes and/or schools.

Such assistance includes recording deposits, entering bills, writing checks, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, generating financial reports and other assigned duties accurately and timely. 

 

This bookkeeping role will be headquartered at the AOP Pastoral Center but will serve parishes and schools across the Archdiocese where a need is present. Occasional on-site visits to the entities served will be necessary.

A limit will be placed on the number of clients served based on size and/or individual circumstances to properly manage case load.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate books and financial records for parishes/schools which they are responsible
  • Reconcile accounts in QuickBooks in timely manner
  • Maintain accounts with outside vendors to stay current
  • Manage parish cash flow and account balances
  • Monitor budget and code expenses in line with approved forecast
  • Assist in completion of bi-annual Agreed-Upon Procedures engagement
  • Review and coordinate financial information with parish organizations
  • Implement and maintain policies and standards issued by Archdiocese
  • Serve as point person between Archdiocese and parish for questions related to financial records
