Position Overview
The Long-Term Internship is a 12+ month commitment designed for individuals seeking immersive experience in youth development, ministry, and nonprofit work. Interns serve in after-school programs, summer camps, and community initiatives while living in intentional community.

This role is ideal for those pursuing careers in education, social work, ministry, or community development, or anyone seeking a missional gap year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead classes, activities, and student programming year-round
  • Build consistent, mentoring relationships with children and teens
  • Provide supervision and maintain a safe, structured environment
  • Implement and adapt curriculum based on student needs
  • Support behavior management and positive culture
  • Participate fully in program schedules, events, and responsibilities
  • Assist with program operations, logistics, and organization
  • Follow all safety procedures and child protection policies

Leadership & Development

  • Take on increasing leadership responsibilities over time
  • Receive mentorship and regular feedback from staff
  • Develop skills in leadership, communication, and problem-solving
  • Gain hands-on experience in nonprofit and ministry work

Community & Spiritual Life

  • Live in UrbanPromise housing with fellow interns and staff
  • Participate in regular devotions, team meetings, and shared meals
  • Engage in intentional spiritual growth and discipleship

Qualifications

  • At least 18 years old
  • Willingness to commit to a year to two years of growth
  • Interest in youth development, ministry, or nonprofit work
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility, initiative, and a desire to grow
  • Willingness to live in community housing
